Over 40 Years of Experience

With more than four decades in the furniture trade, Steve has built a reputation for quality and integrity. From day one, he and Paul have shared three guiding principles:

The Early Days

In 1987, Steve opened The Pine Warehouse in Cardiff, which quickly became South Wales’ largest retailer of pine furniture, beds, and mattresses.

At the time, big-name brands such as Ducal and Lovelace carried steep price tags. Steve and Paul broke the mould by designing and producing their own ranges, cutting overheads, and selling up to 68% cheaper—while still delivering faster than competitors.

Frustrated with the inflated cost of branded mattresses, Steve also began designing his own, applying the same principles of better quality, lower cost, and faster service. Even then, his mattresses were being delivered across the UK and Europe.

After 25 successful years, The Pine Warehouse was sold, and Steve set his sights on new ventures.

The Internet Era

As online shopping emerged, Steve was one of the first in the industry to sell furniture and mattresses on the web—long before Google became the household name it is today. The move was a huge success but soon attracted pushback from traditional retailers.

Manufacturers, under pressure, slowed deliveries from seven days to six weeks. This went against everything Steve believed in: fair pricing, quality products, and prompt service.

Moving Into Manufacturing

Unwilling to compromise, Steve moved into manufacturing. Partnering with Devonshire Pine & Oak, he went on to supply over £20 million worth of oak furniture annually to UK retailers.

Even Oak Furniture Land, now a leading name, contracted Steve both in the UK & Spain due to his vast experience.

Through it all, his passion for mattresses remained—and he continued to design, produce, and deliver premium models across the UK and Europe.
